Awkwafina Awkwafina, an American performer and actress, started with a series of rap songs which dealt with the subject of sexuality and race. The career of the singer and actress grew to Hollywood when she dropped an album of raps. Nora Lum is the daughter of Chinese as well as Korean parents in Forest Hills Queens. The trumpet was her first instrument. After classical and Jazz training her interest in hip-hop grew when she was an teen. When she was in college, she focused on her studies and took up a degree in women's studies and journalism. While she was for a brief amount during her time in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were also available. After graduating, it wasn't until that she turned her attention to music. My Vag, her track My Vag which was her response to the Mickey Avalon song My Dick, became a viral hit across the Internet and was later featured on her first LP Yellow Ranger. It also included other hit songs that went viral, such as the body-positive Queef and the winking tour of her hometown NYC Bitche$1. The last track was linked directly to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide, which was published in 2015. Following a career that was successful as a performer and songwriter, she chose to assume the role of actor. She has appeared in films such as Neighbors 2 Storks, and Bad Rap. In the year 2018, she was offered several notable parts, including Dude Ocean 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. In June, she released In Fina We Trust.
